THING YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU CAN DO WITH AI
👋 Good morning.
Yesterday's poll: 63% of you let an AI agent act in your browser only on small, reversible tasks. Just 13% let it run alone.
Google's Gemini 4 Argon went public yesterday, and Kushank has spent a week with it. The short version: smarter, much better at writing, and not an everyday model for most people.
IN 3 MINUTES, GET 1% BETTER THAN EVERYONE YOU KNOW:
A week with Gemini 4 Argon: Kushank's verdict.
Tell Facebook what you want in your feed.
Xbox starts a lab for AI-powered game ports.
A free demo recorder, and a Mac search that reads your files.
Turn a chat into a diagram, no drawing.
3 DID YOU SEE?
Google made Gemini 4 Argon public on Oct 13: Pro and Ultra subscribers get it in the Gemini app, and the API costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output until Nov 30, then doubles. Artificial Analysis scores it level with GPT-6 Astra at 60% of the cost per task. Kushank has had it for a week (his review): the writing is much better and it one-shot 3D models he has since printed, but without a design reference it drifts to slop, and it hammered his Google Drive until it got rate-limited.
Do this: Test it on your hardest task, a big codebase or a 3D model, not your everyday chat, through Antigravity or the API. Kushank's full take is inside PracticalyAI Labs.
Persistence is a virtue until it's your Drive quota.
Will you try Gemini 4 Argon this week?
Meta is bringing Your Algorithm from Instagram to Facebook, per The Verge. You add and manage topics for Feed and Reels, or open the three-dot menu on a post and pick Interested or Not interested. Meta may ask follow-up questions, and you can answer in your own words. Meta says it's now using LLMs more in ranking, so changes apply in the same session.
Do this: Add three topics you want and three you don't, then scroll and check whether the next batch actually shifts.
Your feed finally takes notes. Whether it listens is another matter.
Microsoft is forming Xbox Labs, a small group of game makers, engineers and scientists exploring the wave of decompiled and recompiled games, per The Verge. Modders, many using AI, have ported skateboarding into Call of Duty and Halo into a web browser. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma says the experiments “challenge long-held assumptions about our industry,” starting with the tether between software and hardware. Whose IP that is stays the open question.
Do this: If you build on someone else's platform, note the pattern: when AI makes copying cheap, the owner may join in rather than shut it down.
The fastest way to stop a mod is apparently to hire it.
2 WORTH TRYING
1. 🎥 Record a polished product demo for free · OpenScreen · free, open source · Windows, Mac, Linux
OpenScreen is a free, open-source screen recorder that zooms on your clicks, restyles the cursor and swaps the background without re-recording. Cut the video by deleting words or silences in its transcript. No watermark, no account. The catch: it's a recorder and light editor, so heavier edits still need another tool.
2. 🔍 Search your Mac by what is inside your files · DigUp · free, open source · Apple Silicon, macOS 14+
DigUp lets you search your Mac by what's in your files, not their names: photos, PDFs, recordings, videos and code. Indexing and search run on your machine, with no account and no telemetry. The catch: Apple Silicon only, macOS 14 or later, and an 865 MB model download the first time.

1 Thing you didn't know you can do with AI
🗺️ Turn a chat into a diagram · Whimsical · free account · Claude, ChatGPT
Kushank's part 264 uses Whimsical as a connector inside the chat: connect it once and Claude or ChatGPT turns a conversation, doc or link into a flowchart, mind map or wireframe in your Whimsical workspace.
Connect: In Claude, add the Whimsical connector from Connectors. In ChatGPT, add Whimsical under Settings, then Plugins, and type @Whimsical in a chat.
Ask: Paste a process or meeting notes and ask for a flowchart or mind map.
Refine: Keep editing with follow-up prompts, or open the board in Whimsical.

The catch: it needs a Whimsical account, and the diagram is only as good as what you gave it, so check the steps before a client sees them.
Your next meeting recap can be a picture.
