Starting July 20, Claude's most capable model, Fable 5, is baked into every Max and Team Premium plan at up to 50% of your usage limits. No more temporary windows or guessing when access vanishes.
On Pro and Team Standard, Fable stays available through pay-as-you-go usage credits, and those users get a one-time $100 credit to soften the switch.
Fable has been an on-again, off-again perk since June. Making it standard on the heavier plans finally answers the "what am I actually paying for" question, and it is Anthropic holding its line as rivals pile on.
Moonshot AI released Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter model, and made it open-weight. That means anyone will soon be able to download it and run it themselves for free, once the full weights drop on July 27.
Early tests put K3 near the very top of all AI models today, right up there with Fable 5 and ahead of Claude Opus 4.8.
A model this powerful, free to run yourself, is a big deal for anyone tired of API bills.
Just days after Kimi, Alibaba teased its own giant model: Qwen 3.8, at 2.4 trillion parameters. Alibaba says it's the strongest model out there after Fable 5, and it's their first model this size that can also handle images, video, and documents.
