ChatGPT moved into Microsoft Word on Thursday, per OpenAI. A sidebar turns rough notes into a first draft, rewrites the paragraph you selected, proofreads, and flags formatting, without leaving the file. Word joins Excel and PowerPoint on the same Microsoft Marketplace add-in, and it works on every plan including Free, within your usual limits. Enterprise accounts also get GPT-5.6 Sol free inside Word until September 30, and that preview does not count against normal usage.
Try this: Install the add-in from Microsoft Marketplace, open the document you have been avoiding, and let the sidebar rewrite one paragraph you already hate.

Where do you want AI when you're writing?
Anthropic rebuilt Claude Projects on Thursday so the unit of work is a conversation, not a folder. You set the goal in one coordinator chat. Claude splits the job into threads that run at once, and each thread is a Claude Code cloud session on its own branch and copy of the repo. It keeps working after you step away, and you can steer it from your phone. Beta for select Pro and Max subscribers who already use Claude Code cloud sessions and have no existing projects. Everyone else waits.
Try this: If you have the beta, set the coordinator and the worker threads to different effort levels before you start. Parallel sessions burn your limit fast.

Google Labs opened CC to households on Thursday, per Google. Up to six people share one agent that has its own verified Google Account, and it sees only what each person chooses to share: a Drive folder, a calendar, a thread. Every morning it sends the group a "Your Day Ahead" brief. It also fills permission slips and registration PDFs, builds the school supply list, and plans the week's meals. It will not act or share outside the group without permission. Free, US, 18 and over, web and mobile.
Try this: Start by sharing one calendar and nothing else. What you hand it is the whole decision.

Menlo Ventures surveyed 5,067 US adults with Morning Consult in July. Adoption went from 61% to 64% in a year. Global consumer AI spend went from $12 billion to $40 billion. Growth is coming from depth, not new users: 55% of AI users now pay for something, daily use climbed from 19% to 25% of Americans, and the top 14% of payers drive 60% of the spend. Among assistants, ChatGPT 60%, Gemini 58%, Claude 20%.
The catch: if you sell AI, "have you tried it" is a dead metric. Sessions, dollars and whether they let an agent act are the ones that move.
